Wine And Women

copyright 2006 words & music by Francis Lynn

Driving back from Mexico, on my way to El Paso.
Checked in to a cheap motel, bought a quart of Muscatel.
Met a lady of the night, she stayed with me till the light.
I’m on the road to Hell, but what the hell.

Heading out to San Antone, never liked to drink alone.
Saw a gal along the side, she was looking for a ride.
We stopped at a local bar, then made love inside my car.
I’m on the road to Hell, but what the hell.

Wine and women, head is spinning.
Think I’m lost and the Devil’s winning.
Wine and women keep me sinning.
Soul is dead, but the flesh is grinning.
With all that love and all that liquor,
Satan’s gonna get me much quicker.
I’m on the road to Hell, but what the hell.

Pulling in to Wichita, met a young girl with her Pa.
She was barely twenty-one, wanted love and lots of fun.
We ditched him and found a place, now I can’t recall her face.
I’m on the road to Hell, but what the hell.

Back on down to Rio Grand, think I overplayed my hand.
Husband caught us in his bed. He swore that they’d find us dead.
Two shots fired, felt them pass. Found my car & hit the gas.
I’m on the road to Hell, but what the hell.

Wine and women, head is spinning.
Think I’m lost and the Devil’s winning.
Wine and women, keep me sinning,
Soul is dead, but the flesh is grinning.
With all that love and all that liquor,
Satan’s gonna get me much quicker.
I’m on the road to Hell, but what the hell.

When St. Peter calls for me, he’ll just have to wait, ya see.
I’ll be on a drinking date, got no time for Pearly Gate.
Heaven knows they got no bar, no fast women for my car,
So, I’m on the road to Hell, but what the hell.

I’m on the road to Hell, but what the hell.
I’m on the road to Hell, but what the hell.
