Rainstorm

(in tribute to Harry Chapin)

I’ve always loved the sunshine,
The blue and cloudless skies.
But now I need the raindrops
Falling in my eyes.

And the rain’s coming down
And the pain’s coming 'round.
And the rain falling down
Hides my tears.

Well, she was only eighteen
And I was forty-one.
My friends would tell me, “Harry,
She’s just too damn young.”

But love is for the ageless
And passion is its child.
I was rich and restless.
She was poor and wild.

And the rain’s coming down
And the pain’s coming 'round.
And the rain falling down
Hides my tears.

We traveled throughout Europe
And there we found our life.
We settled in to living,
Husband with a wife.

Well I went back to flying,
While she shopped all the stores.
Butlers did her bidding,
Maids did all the chores.

Funny how a love can sour,
Dying slowly by the hour.
Ending when it’s least expected,
Knowing that you can’t accept it.

The times were quickly slipping
A year became a day.
Routine was our rhythm,
Sameness was our way.

One day I came home early
To laughter from upstairs.
I ran up to the bedroom.
They were not aware.

And the rain’s coming down
And the pain’s coming 'round.
And the rain falling down
Hides my tears.

Well, he was only nineteen
And she was thirty-one.
I heard myself, while crying,
“Sue, he’s too damn young”

She left and now I’m searching
For clouds of dark and gray
And hoping that a rainstorm
Takes my pain away.

And the rain’s coming down
And the pain’s coming 'round.
And the rain falling down
Hides my tears.

Hides my tears.

Who Am I To Say

words/music by Francis Lynn

Verse:
Who am I to say that we will break up?
Did I really try to work it out with you?
And who am I to say that we will make up?
Can I put aside the pain that we’ve been through?

Who am I to say there’s no tomorrow,
When so much of us is shared in yesterday?
And who am I to say that all the sorrow,
Will be ending if we start again today?

Chorus:
But then, who am I to say
I know my heart in any way?
So do I go or do I stay with you?

Verse:
Fairy tales were made for happy endings.
Should I turn the page to see if we will too?
Or maybe I am only just pretending
And afraid to live my life away from you.

Can we get beyond this stormy weather?
Will the sun come out & move the clouds apart?
And should we try to live our lives together
In our memories & not within our hearts?

Chorus:
But then, who am I to say
I know my heart in any way?
So do I go or do I stay with you?

Bridge:
Love can be so fragile,
All the flowers know.
Hide one from the sunlight
And it never grows.

Verse:
Now it’s time to come to some conclusion.
And it’s only fair that I should tell you why.
So I have searched my heart for some solution.
Is it better if I stay or say good-bye?

Chorus:
But then, who am I to say
I know my heart in any way.
So do I go or do I stay with you?

Spy Of The Heart

performed by Roger Miller

Who is that stranger you bring to your bed?
Is he an angel or devil instead?
There is danger, there is danger
If you give your love to him.

You only met him a short time before,
Small talk and cocktails, a kiss at the door.
But beware girl, just take care girl
In affairs that you may start.
He is an agent of love
And a spy of the heart.

He is so charming
A smile that’s disarming
His touch makes you lose all control.
And there’s no suspicion that he’s on a mission
To unlock all your passion
Then leave with your soul.

He’s always searching for women like you.
If you are lonely he pick up the clue
Then romance you and entrance you
Till you give your love to him.

Once you surrender you’ll never be sure.
Are you his lover or only one more?
Don’t give in girl, you can’t win girl.
All your dreams will fall apart
He is an agent of love
And a spy of the heart.

He is so charming
A smile that’s disarming
His touch makes you lose all control.
And there’s no suspicion that he’s on a mission
To unlock all your passion
Then leave with your soul.

Who is that stranger you find in your bed?
Is he an angel or devil instead?
There is danger, there is danger
If you think your just too smart.
He is an agent of love
And a spy of the heart.

Of the heart
Of the heart
So get smart.
Hide your heart.

Invitation to Christmas

Come join us as we celebrate
And bring a friend or two.
The season is upon us now
And old St. Nick is due.

Come gather at the fireplace
And drink some yuletide cheer.
We’ll toast our friends and family
And to the coming year.

We’ll decorate the Christmas tree
Exchange a gift or two.
But most important to our day
Is sharing it with you.

Come stand beneath the mistletoe
Or waltz around the floor.
We’ll set the pace and keep in strong
Then dance again once more.

Come hurry to the window sill
And hear the sounds below.
We’ll watch a group of carolers
And children in the snow.

This invitation’s sent to you,
It’s job we hope is done.
So make a point to come along
And join our Christmas fun.

Now I Believe In You

I never believed in miracles
Or things I could not see.
I never believed in tarot cards
Or someone’s prophesy.

And I never believed in fairy tales
That ended happily.
So I never believed a knight would ride by
To try and rescue me.

But then you came along
When the wind was too strong
And you sheltered me from the storm.
Now, I believe in you.
It’s simple but so true.
I learned to love from you.
Yes, I believe in you.

I never could find a path in life
And so I went astray.
I never could find a helping hand
To guide me on my way.

And I never could find the strength in me
To make it through the day.
So I never could find a reason to care
If I should leave or stay.

But then you came along
When the winds were too strong
And you sheltered me from the storm.
Now, I believe in you.
It's simple, but so true.
I learned to live from you.
Yes, I believe in you.
Now, I believe in you.

Sweet Dreams

Sleep now, sleep now, baby go to sleep now.
Good night, sleep tight, close your tired eyes.
Sweet dreams, sweet dreams,
May all your dreams be sweet dreams.
Rest well, all’s well, God is at your side.

Wake up, wake up, baby time to wake up.
Good day, bright day, greet the world hello.
Reach out, reach out,
The day is yours so reach out.
So small, grow tall, life will wait for you.

Reach out, reach out,
The day grows short so reach out.
Night’s near, small prayer, then to sleep again

I'm Just Waiting For You

It's 3am
And I'm at it again,
Waiting on line for you.
We've chatted before
And you know I need more
'Cause girl, you made me feel brand new.

You're five states away,
But the things that you say
Make me wanna be near you.
How can I explain
When you take all the rain
And change it into morning dew?

I'm just waiting for you.
I'm just waiting for you.
I've got nothing to do.
Only waiting for you.

You said that you care
So I'll always be here
Hoping that you'll come on line.
Your sweet sound will play.
I'll be ready to say,
Girl, I wanna make you mine.

I'm just waiting for you.
I'm just waiting for you.
I've got nothing to do.
Only waiting for you.

How can it be
That a girl I can't see
Has taken my heart away?
It's crazy I know
But I can't let her go
So I'm waiting on line all day.

It's now 4am
And I'm at it again,
Waiting on line for you.
Girl, where can you be?
Don't you know that it's me
Waiting on line for you?

I'm just waiting for you.
I'm just waiting for you.
I've got nothing to do.
Only waiting for you.
I'm just waiting for you.

Wine And Women

copyright 2006 words & music by Francis Lynn

Driving back from Mexico, on my way to El Paso.
Checked in to a cheap motel, bought a quart of Muscatel.
Met a lady of the night, she stayed with me till the light.
I’m on the road to Hell, but what the hell.

Heading out to San Antone, never liked to drink alone.
Saw a gal along the side, she was looking for a ride.
We stopped at a local bar, then made love inside my car.
I’m on the road to Hell, but what the hell.

Wine and women, head is spinning.
Think I’m lost and the Devil’s winning.
Wine and women keep me sinning.
Soul is dead, but the flesh is grinning.
With all that love and all that liquor,
Satan’s gonna get me much quicker.
I’m on the road to Hell, but what the hell.

Pulling in to Wichita, met a young girl with her Pa.
She was barely twenty-one, wanted love and lots of fun.
We ditched him and found a place, now I can’t recall her face.
I’m on the road to Hell, but what the hell.

Back on down to Rio Grand, think I overplayed my hand.
Husband caught us in his bed. He swore that they’d find us dead.
Two shots fired, felt them pass. Found my car & hit the gas.
I’m on the road to Hell, but what the hell.

Wine and women, head is spinning.
Think I’m lost and the Devil’s winning.
Wine and women, keep me sinning,
Soul is dead, but the flesh is grinning.
With all that love and all that liquor,
Satan’s gonna get me much quicker.
I’m on the road to Hell, but what the hell.

When St. Peter calls for me, he’ll just have to wait, ya see.
I’ll be on a drinking date, got no time for Pearly Gate.
Heaven knows they got no bar, no fast women for my car,
So, I’m on the road to Hell, but what the hell.

I’m on the road to Hell, but what the hell.
I’m on the road to Hell, but what the hell.

Ten Times Ten (Times Over You)

performed by Roger Miller

Ev’ry one says I to blame,
That I caused you heartache, caused you pain.
But there’s something that I think you ought to know.
I’ll tell it to you loud and clear
So you can pass it on my dear
And then I’ll pack my bags and start to go.

Ever since the day we wed
You spent too much time away from bed
Playing house or shopping at a downtown store.
And you can’t seem to find a break
To give me all the love it takes
So loving me is just another chore.

I’m ten times ten times lonely.
I’m ten times ten times blue.
You never gave us the time for loving
Now I’ve found time for someone new.
I’m ten times ten times over you.

Running in and rushing out,
Modern woman‘s what it’s all about,
Catching up with all the int’rests in your life.
But you can’t see it don’t add up
To quiet passions that erupt
From love between a husband and his wife.

Through the years I’ve tried to stay,
Though you’ve put me off or turned away.
Now it’s time for me to end this misery.
And when you’re friends start asking why
Just tell the truth when you reply.
I’ve found some one who’s ten times tenderly.

I’m ten times ten times lonely.
I’m ten times ten times blue.
You never gave us the time for loving.
Now I’ve found time for some one new.
I’m ten times ten times over you.

Jessica

She wakes up to another day
Then it's time to wash all the sleep away.
Dressing now in a long brown skirt,
While her long black hair frames a crisp white shirt.

Jessica.

Books in hand, it is time to go.
She is sweet sixteen & so much to know.
Stepping out into morning sun,
She'll be back again when her day is done.

Jessica,Jessica,
She's Jessica.

She meets up with some gals she knows.
Beck & Rad are here & the laughter flows.
Best of friends, they are filled with joy,
Then the giggles start when they talk of boys.

Jessica.

School day ends & the fun begins.
She's a soccer girl & she aims to win.
Back at home there's no time to rest,
She will study late for a major test.

Jessica,Jessica,
She's Jessica.

Full of smiles with a loving way.
She's a shining star & a golden ray.
Gentle soul, she just can't go wrong
For her faith in God is what keeps her strong.

She brings light to a darkened day
And she'll stop the rain if she has her way.
She gives warmth to a winter's chill
And she'll fight the storms with her strength of will.

Jessica, Jessica, Jessica.
Ohhhhh,
Jessica, Jessica, Jessica.
She is Jessica.

Moonbeams dance 'round a sleeping girl.
She is set in bed like a precious pearl.
Dreams flood in & a smile appears.
Possibilities for her coming years.

Jessica.

Friends drift by, she can see each face,
And she holds them dear, in a special place.
Mom & dad, brother, sisters call.
Passing visions now & she loves them all.

Jessica,Jessica,
She's Jessica.

Full of smiles with a loving way.
She's a shining star & a golden ray.
Gentle soul, she just can't go wrong
For her faith in God is what keeps her strong.

She brings light to a darkened day
And she'll stop the rain if she has her way.
She gives warmth to a winter's chill
And she'll fight the storms with her strength of will.

Jessica, Jessica, Jessica.
Ohhhhh,
Jessica, Jessica, Jessica.
She is Jessica, Jessica, Jessica.
Lovely Jessica.

Peace Of Mind, I Will Find

Jesus is my Savior
He always comforts me.
Jesus is my Savior
His Truth is there to see.
He will take my worries
And cast them in the sea.
Peace of mind, I will find.

Peace of mind
I will find.
Peace of mind
I will find.
He will take my worries
And cast them in the sea.
Peace of mind
I will find.

Jesus is my Lantern
His Light will lead my way.
Jesus is my Lantern
He takes the dark away.
He shines down from Heaven
And brightens all my day.
Peace of mind, I will find.

Peace of mind
I will find.
Peace of mind
I will find.
He shines down from Heaven
And brightens all my day.
Peace of mind
I will find.

Jesus is Redemption
My sins he will console.
Jesus is Redemption
And He has saved my soul.
He will guide my living
For Heaven is my goal.
Peace of mind, I will find.

Peace of mind
I will find.
Peace of mind
I will find.
He will guide my living
For Heaven is my goal.
Peace of mind
I will find.

Praise be unto Jesus
And glorify His name.
I was lost & lonley
Until His spirit came.
He now dwells within me
And I am not the same.
Peace of mind
I will find.

Peace of mind
I will find.
Peace of mind
I will find.
He now dwells within me
And I am not the same.
Peace of mind
I will find.
Peace of mind
I will find.

Miss The Way You Kissed Me

© 2006 words & music by Francis Lynn

Some times a man can get a foolish notion
When standing near a gal beside a bar.
She smiles at him & seems to set in motion
A stirring that he hasn't felt so far.

They play the game & soon the two are kissing
Then suddenly they're in a cheap motel.
He thinks he's found a thrill that he's been missing
Forgetting there's a wife at home as well.

A one-night stand becomes a new temptation
And so begins the cheating & the lies.
He's caught up in a web of explanations
Each time his wife looks deep into his eyes.

He leaves his home & moves in with his lover
And ev'ry thing is working out just fine.
But time goes by & he will soon discover
He's sorry that he ever crossed the line.

Chorus:
I never thought I'd miss the way you kissed me
Or want you more than any day before.
And all the times you told me that you loved me
Didn't stop me walking out the door.

I'm sorry for the pain that I have caused you.
I know that I'm the only one to blame.
Each day I live the hurt that you've been put through
With sleepless nights of crying out your name.

Sometimes a man can learn about emotion
When standing all alone beside a bar
Just what it means by giving full devotion
And loving you for all the things you are.

Please take me back & let me make it up, dear.
I promise that we'll never be apart.
I swear to you that I will always be here
.And love you from the bottom of my heart.

Each day I live the hurt that you've been put through
With sleepless nights of crying out your name.
